Nutrition Tip: Eat a protein, fat, ...

This might not always be realistic but it’s a good idea to try and eat some type of protein, fat, and carbohydrate every time you eat (yes I did say to eat fat and carbs – you’re better off with them, I promise). Your body needs all three of these macronutrients as they all provide different support for your body. This balance can help stabilize your blood sugar and provide satiety and energy so that you can get great exercise/workouts. This isn’t a license to eat whatever you want (e.g. don’t grab a gallon of ice cream and bucket of fried chicken). You still need to make healthy choices within these guidelines. And though I know I just ticked some Atkins addicts off, I’ll discuss more of the importance of each of these later.

Since I know you are already trying to eat several times per day to stroke your metabolic fire/keep your metabolism going as I posted before, some examples of a quick mid morning snack are: cheese stick (low-fat) and an apple or some raw almonds and a piece of fruit (orange) or certain meal replacement/protein shakes. These examples would provide you with a protein, fat, and carb. Enjoy!

There plenty of snack options out there that fit this profile. What are some that you like?
