No More Excuses Video
Posted by: | CommentsIt’s easy to have our list of excuses for why we aren’t taking care of ourselves, especially in the area of fitness including things like: I don’t have time or money or energy or I don’t feel good or my metabolism is slow or I have bad genetics or I’m tired or I don’t like to sweat or have bad knees or I’m too busy, blah, blah, blah….
And our excuse seems pretty good until we see someone like Matt Scott who has a “No Excuse” mentality. Then there’s a perspective change. I love guys like this that don’t make excuses and just go for it. Props to Matt (and Nike) for the example and wake up call. Time to suck it up and go….
The Eat Less / Move More Principle
Posted by: | CommentsYou say you’ve tried everything, right? Well weight loss isn’t near as complicated as people make it. To break it down in it’s simplest form is: If you burn more calories than you are taking in, you will lose weight. It’s been proven thousands and thousands of time. If you eat less (than you are now) and move more (exercise more than you are now), your body will lose weight. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to burn more calories than you are consuming and gain weight. IMPOSSIBLE!
Here’s a classic funny video that displays this principle pretty clearly.
The problem with this method is your body changes as you try to change it so you have to change your approach to be a step ahead. So how fast you lose weight, how your body actually changes/whether you become lean or not, how you feel as far as energy, whether you’re improving your overall fitness level and function in life, etc. are all dependent on more specific factors.
The main 2 factors are the type of exercise plan and nutrition plan you are on. This is where it gets more complicated and really becomes a science if you want to maximize the results you’re going to get because using the same method of attack will work for a little while but your body will catch up eventually. e.g. The amount of calories your body burns when you do a certain exercise lessens over time. So keep the Eat Less/Move More principle in mind but remember you need to change to keep your body changing.
It can be overwhelming/frustrating trying to figure all this out so one great solution is Bootcamp and we’re offering a trial right now for $1.
Confused about fitness and the Wii Fit
Posted by: | CommentsConversation about weight loss and the Wii Fit…
Person: I’ve heard about your bootcamp but I’ve got a great routine at home.
Me: Okay. Just curious, what does your routine consist of?
Person: I’m on the Wii Fit everyday and it’s tough!
Me: Wow. So how’s that working for you? Seeing some results?
Person: Well it’s definitely working. I feel it and I know the results are coming.
Me: Now don’t get me wrong, some exercise is better than none but to be honest, you’re probably not going to transform your body with the Wii Fit.
Person: Well I know it works…
Okay. Conversation over. Seriously – this person is really confused or deceived. Yes some exercise is better than none and every little bit helps but transforming your body takes a lot of hard work and discipline. Better look elsewhere and start incorporating some other stuff or you’ve got a really long, frustrating road ahead of you. And for fun, check out the video. Good stuff!
Deceived…
Posted by: | CommentsDon’t believe everything you see in magazines. Here’s a video of the “magic” of computer alterations.
Quite deceiving, huh? Remember if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is…
Friday Fun: Boom Goes the Dynamite

Get off your butt and “escape the sofa”!!
Posted by: | CommentsEver feel like the couch has got a hold of you and you can’t get away. Before you know it a few hours are gone and you’ve got nothing to show for it. Here’s a great video from Reebok.
This would be a great excuse if it happened like this but it doesn’t. So quit making excuses and wasting time, get off your butt, escape the sofa and burn some calories today. Your body needs and deserves it! It’s 2009, let’s go!
Lessons from the Best: 72 years old and still truckin
Posted by: | CommentsWell for those that like to make excuses about age not being on their side and their metabolism slowing down and not being able to be fit when you get “old,” take a look at Jim Morris who would say otherwise. He’s an inspiration and has been bodybuilding for close to half a century and shows no signs of slowing down. And while into his 70s, he still puts most of us to shame.
Does it come easy for him? Heck no! I can promise he didn’t get that way from spending a few minutes doing crunches or 8 minute abs or from just using something like the “Bender ball.” He’s worked hard and been very disciplined for decades and it’s paid off. But there was no magic pill that made it happen overnight. He’s actually still working at it – 6 days a week. He’s got no time for excuses. His health is on the line.
So how bad do you want it? If you want to succeed long term, be prepared to work at it for the long haul. Jim Morris is a great example. Check out the vid and be inspired and quit making excuses
**Today’s Real Heroes
Posted by: | CommentsWhether you’ve seen this or not, this video is worth a few minutes of your time. The Today Show did a special awhile back called Today’s Real Heroes on father and son, Dick and Rick Hoyt. It shows the sacrifice a father will endure because of his deep love for his son. That’s a lesson in and of itself. But if it doesn’t inspire, motivate, and/or move you (even to point of tears), I’m not sure what will.
Bootcamp quick sneak peek.
